We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong hands-on experience with low-level software. As a member of  the System Performance software team, you will play a central role in debugging a complex software and hardware stack, reverse engineering the system as needed, and driving forward NextSilicon's software requirements and KPIs. You will be at the forefront of performance efforts within the organization, identifying unexpected bottlenecks and demonstrating creative, hands-on problem solving capabilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering
  • In-depth understanding of operating system internals
  • Experience with inter-process communication (IPC) and multi-threaded programming
  • Strong problem solving skills, with the ability to analyze and debug complex issues
  • Experience working in an embedded Linux environment — an advantage
  • Deep knowledge of processor architectures, such as CPUs (x86, ARM, RISC-V), GPUs, DSPs, or TPUs — an advantage
  • Familiarity with and enthusiasm for any of the following areas: machine learning, compilers, parallel programming, high-performance and massively parallel systems, processor and computer architecture—an advantage

Responsibilities

  • Profile and optimize complex software and hardware systems, identifying bottlenecks and developing creative solutions to overcome them
  • Take a hands-on approach to solving software bugs on a novel hardware architecture
  • Drive the development of high-complexity software features, including defining KPIs and delivery criteria 
  • Influence the development of hardware features for next-generation architectures
